Hello Friends!
I thought of sharing something you might find helpful! I also promised to write it when I first wrote about my work.
Work can sometimes be a place of stress and triggers. This is where I have learned to cope with the stress that comes up and try to stay as positive as possible (even though it is easier to say than do) But anyway, here are some tips!
1- Be Realistic, and step out of Subjectivism
As children, we learned that everything belongs to us as if the world spins around us. Sometimes, this thought pattern can develop more as we grow up, which eventually makes our life hard to interpret or communicate properly in our professional and personal lives.
The week my sister stayed with us taught me so many things. That includes how to step out of subjectivism; by personalizing every little detail of a situation to yourself and not considering other people's perspectives.
I am sure that if I did not practiced that properly before work started, it would have turned into a mess 😅.
2- Understand that you cannot control everything
When I first worked in a new workplace, I had some difficult times getting used to it (because I worked at the mall at first). It was hard to understand the intentions and the communication styles of my workmates, which led to the rebirth of some triggers.
Once, an unpleasant situation happened between me and a workmate, and I chose not to react but to take a walk outside instead.

The sky was clear and it was a little windy, I enjoyed the mindful walk I had on this sidewalk
I did meditation and watched a video on the Headspace app that helped me a lot. |
The video demonstrated the idea of how we cannot possibly control someone's reaction or a specific situation. If it happens, then it just does. We cannot travel back in time and change it. So, we must accept it.
The video emphasized the idea of accepting reality and relaxing any tension around controlling something.
This, my dear readers, helped me a lot at work, and in my personal life. I couldn't be more grateful to say that each "unpleasant" situation that happens, actually unexpectedly benefits us...
I returned back to work and discussed the issue with the manager.
Anyway, I was not intending to write complaints about work, but instead to show and remind myself and you to always take a step back when a situation becomes reactive.
On my break-time, I went to a nearby cafe and ordered a favorite drink and a cookie!
That's the end of the post, I just wanted to share a few tips along my new work journey.
I hope you have a great day!
